I did my cousin McKenzie’s wedding announcements! I think they turned out pretty cute! Their colors were gray and yellow! And she wanted a flower feel to it.

Wedding planning can be so stressful. There are so many online resources that can help you find what to do next and how to plan your wedding to make your day a breeze.

There are some steps you should consider to follow to be able to arrive on your wedding day happy, calm and ready for the great life ahead of you. The steps include the following:

1. Budget – If you’re getting married, money is the key point to getting married. You need to have money for the place, the reception center, the photography, the wedding invitations and even the dress. Finding out where you funds are coming from, and how much you have to work with is the first step.

2. Date – Although this sometimes can be a no brainier, finding the date for your wedding day is one of the most important things to do. Talk to your family, friends, and your fiancee’s and work out a day that will be best for everyone. Chances are, that you won’t be able to accommodate everyone, but it is your wedding day. Once you have decided on a date, start looking at the available wedding announcements and Save the Dates.

3. Place – Once you decide your wedding day, you can begin to look for places to hold the ceremony and the reception. Depending on your religion, the actual ceremony can be free, for example the LDS church holds their wedding ceremony’s for worthy members in their Temples which are free, you just have to schedule in advance. The place of your wedding can set the mood for the entire wedding, so you’ll want to find this as quickly as possible so you can start planning the colors, decor, etc. Also, quite a few wedding places have packages of flowers and food you can choose from that can save you some money. Be sure to talk to the wedding planners of the place you choose.

4. Wedding Party – This is where you and your husband sit down and discuss who you’d like to “feature” in your wedding besides yourselves. There are bridesmaids, groomsmen, maid of honor, best man, flower girl, etc. Each wedding is different and you can make it your own.

5. Officiator – The officiator of a wedding is the person who is marrying you. This can be a bishop, pastor, preacher of many religions can make that joining for you and your significant other. Again, certain marriage centers can have them on hand to choose from, so check while you are looking for places to get married.

6. Theme & Colors – This is one of the most important things of a wedding — the theme. The theme of a wedding can be so many things. Vintage is a popular theme as of lately, as well as modern, old fashioned, etc. Colors are also very important in a wedding. When choosing your wedding colors you’ll want to consider what will look good at the time you are getting married. The colors will also determine your flowers. Bright yellow sunflowers aren’t going to look good in a winter wedding. Often times, you can contact a graphic designer who can help you not only look through and design custom wedding invitations, but they can help you choose colors for that’s what they’re trained to do.

7. Wardrobe – This is key to any wedding. The wardrobe to the bride, groom, groomsmen, bridesmaids, father/mother of the bride and groom, etc. There is so many factors going into planning a wedding, and this will be hard to get everything together, but there are many trained to help you find these things. There are also wedding sites that can show you great ideas. Pinterest is a great way to look for ideas on dresses, bridal party, etc.

8. Invitations – As we’ve previously discussed, wedding invitations are very important to a wedding. If you’re on a budget, there are many cheap wedding announcements out there that can save you lots of money. Private wedding designers can also save you quite a bit of money such as Meagan Young.

9. Rings – When getting married, a ring is the thing that you’ll see every day that reminds you of your vows and joining. When a couple gets engaged there is usually an engagement ring for the bride, but the males will need theirs. Also, engagement rings can be enhanced with wedding bands to be given at the ceremony.

10. Food – What will you be serving at a wedding? Also, you’ll want to plan in a wedding dinner or luncheon depending on what time you get married. These can be as elaborate as you want them to be, and a lot of nicer restaurants have planning for these and give you options.

11. Music – At your wedding will there be dancing? A lot of weddings do or don’t have this feature. If you are, what type of music will you be wanting. Are you planning on having a “father-daughter dance” or a “first dance.” You’ll also want to decide what songs you want.

12. Vows – Vows are very important at a wedding. They are things you’ll remember for the years to come. Even if you don’t recite them out loud, you’ll want want to write them down for you to remember.

Good luck in planning your wedding! Remember why you’re getting married in the first place! You’re being bonded with your best friend, and it’s going to be the best day of your life! Even if you have some bumps on the road, you’ll be sure to have a great wedding if you remember all these steps!
